My Conference Experience in Atlantic City
From rooms to food to what to do staying at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino

Considering hosting an event, conference, or meeting in Atlantic City? Here’s my review based on my recent experience attending a planner conference at the Hard Rock Hotel Casino.
Travel Considerations
If you expect many out-of-town guests, pay close attention to travel arrangements. Atlantic City Airport is quite small, with limited flight options. The best choice is to fly into Philadelphia International Airport, which is about a 45-minute drive from Atlantic City.
I chose to fly into Philadelphia and arrived a day early due to a significant fare difference. This also allowed me to avoid a 6 a.m. flight to make it in time for the conference kickoff. My flight was smooth, and my car service was waiting upon arrival. Approximately 45 minutes later, I arrived at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, which served as both my accommodation and the conference venue.

Hotel Experience
Check-In Process:
My timing couldn’t have been better! I arrived at check-in with only two people ahead of me. By the time I finished, a long line had formed. The check-in process was quick and seamless, with the front desk staff being polite and efficient. Although they knew I was attending the conference, I didn’t inquire about room details or upgrades (which I typically do). I was assigned a room on a lower floor.
Room Review:
The room was spacious—I like to gauge room size by how many cartwheels I can do, and I estimated three cartwheels' worth of space! It was comfortable for two people and featured a lovely view of the boardwalk and Ferris wheel. I appreciated the in-room refrigerator, which is always a plus for me.
However, the room felt a bit dated. I later discovered that I was staying in an older tower, which made me wonder why the hotel didn’t place me and the other planners in the newer, more modern tower. It would have been valuable for us to experience the updated accommodations firsthand, especially when making recommendations to clients. The bathroom was also outdated, featuring an older tub that was quite high to step into. Additionally, I had to call maintenance to fix a fan that wouldn’t stop running.
Overall Rating: ⭐⭐⭐ (3 out of 5 stars)
The Hard Rock Hotel & Casino offers a convenient location and smooth check-in, but the outdated rooms in the older tower and bathroom conditions left room for improvement.

Getting Around
Keep in mind that I attended a conference in January, so it was still winter. I think my experience would have been different during the summer. I visited the nearby outlet mall before the conference began. The mall was about a 10-minute drive or a 25-minute walk from the hotel. I opted for an Uber, which cost $10. The outlet mall had the usual chain stores, but I didn’t find anything particularly exciting. Still, it was a pleasant way to spend the afternoon, enjoying lunch and a drink from Starbucks—a rare treat for me. Despite the chilly weather, it was manageable for a short outing.
I didn’t explore the boardwalk, but if the weather had been warmer, I definitely would have. Overall, I felt that having a car would be helpful for getting around Atlantic City, as many attractions aren’t within easy walking distance.
Walkability Rating: ⭐⭐⭐ (3 out of 5 stars)
While some areas are accessible by foot, getting around the city comfortably often requires a car or rideshare.

Meeting Space
The Hard Rock Hotel offers a variety of meeting spaces, all conveniently located on a single floor. This layout is a major plus for conference attendees, as it minimizes confusion and makes navigating between sessions quick and easy.
What sets the Hard Rock apart is its energetic, entertainment-focused atmosphere. As a “fun” and vibrant hotel, it offers more than just traditional meeting rooms—it has an in-house arena that regularly hosts concerts and large productions. This arena is also available for private event rentals, making it a fantastic option for high-energy gatherings like sales kickoffs, awards ceremonies, or motivational conferences.
One of the hotel’s standout features is its ability to incorporate musical elements into your event. Whether it’s a live band, a branded concert-style experience, or a themed production, the Hard Rock team can create a memorable musical tie-in that enhances your event and keeps your guests engaged.

Health and Wellness
I visited the fitness center at the Hard Rock and was truly impressed! It felt like a full-scale gym, equipped with modern machines and up-to-date equipment. The layout was well-organized: the weightlifting area was separate, while the ellipticals and treadmills were lined up along the windows, offering a beautiful view of the shore. There was also a designated stretching area and a room for fitness classes. The fitness center was spotless, with plenty of clean towels and cold water available.
Directly below the fitness center was the Rock Spa® & Salon, which included a juice bar area and ample seating. The spa offered a range of traditional services and day passes for access to the hot tub, steam room, and sauna. I was able to secure a day pass after connecting with the manager of the Hard Hotel during the conference. It turned out to be the perfect way to relax during my afternoon break, especially since the pool was closed for renovations. I spent my break unwinding in the hot tub, which was a fantastic mid-conference recharge.
Health & Wellness Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ (4 out of 5 stars)
The fitness center and spa was definitely a highlight!. The only downside was the pool closure, but the spa amenities made up for it.

Food Options
I had dinner my first night at the Hard Rock Cafe. It was a busy Saturday night with the hotel fully booked, so there was about a 40-minute wait for a table for two. My friend and I both ordered burgers and fries, but I was a bit disappointed with the quality, especially for the price point.
Some other notable food choices (that I missed out on but heard amazing things about):
White House Subs
White House Subs is known as a local gem. It’s a favorite among both visitors and locals, known for hearty, no-frills sub sandwiches made with fresh ingredients, serving up subs since 1946.Gelato
I was told the gelato at Alexia Patissere was a hit!
Sugar Factory
They have a happy hour featuring 2 for 1 drinks and appetizer specials.
The next day, I attended the conference’s opening reception at the hotel, and the food was fantastic. There was a full buffet spread, complete with a dessert bar. (You can read more about the food and venue in my previous post.) Throughout the conference, the hotel continued to impress with delicious meals, including a breakfast buffet, lunch buffet, and an assortment of snacks over the two-day event.
Food Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ (4 out of 5 stars)
The food options during the conference were both plentiful and delicious, offering a variety of choices to suit different tastes. Dietary restrictions were also accommodated and each dish was clearly marked. The buffet-style setup worked great, with stations positioned on both sides of the room, which helped keep the lines moving quickly. From hearty breakfast spreads to well-balanced lunches and delightful snack breaks, the meals were consistently fresh, flavorful, and satisfying. Overall, the thoughtful presentation and variety contributed to a great dining experience throughout the event.
