👋 Hi, Tiffany here!
Welcome back to The Velvetstyle Viewpoint—the newsletter where I share my updates, insights, and behind-the-scenes moments from an Event Professional.
The past couple of months have been packed with travel, venue visits, and showing up more regularly in both my work and my content. I’m carrying that same energy into June. Let’s get into the recap! Keep reading...
It doesn’t matter when you start, just start.
What's Inside
May Recap
May kicked off with a trip to Georgia for GMITE (Global Meeting & Incentive Travel Exchange), hosted at Château Élan Winery & Resort. I connected with several high-end travel and incentive suppliers and toured the winery, which I’ll be reviewing in an upcoming post. It was a great opportunity to explore properties that cater to luxury meetings and small-scale incentive groups.
Mid-month, I traveled to Savannah over Mother’s Day weekend. While the trip was primarily personal, I carved out time to tour the Savannah Convention Center and see the progress on its recent expansion. I also visited the newly opened AC Marriott Riverfront. The hotel has a clean, modern design with functional meeting rooms just off the lobby, a rooftop restaurant, and a private dining space that’s perfect for groups of 10 to 12. As someone who’s visited Savannah often, I continue to be impressed by the city’s potential as a destination for both retreats and larger-scale conferences.
I also completed my certification as an Inclusive Event Strategist through MPI. It’s important to me that every event I design is welcoming, thoughtful, and reflective of diverse experiences. This training deepened my approach to inclusive planning, and I’m excited to integrate what I’ve learned into future programs.
On the content side, I continued co-hosting a weekly series, On Air with Russell, every Monday where we talk about hotels and destinations. You can check out the replays here. Don’t forget to subscribe for updates.
I also stayed consistent with This Week’s Live About Events, my weekly livestream covering planning insights, industry trends, and interviews. Subscribe Here.

Where I’ve Been
April was also event-heavy and full of discovery. I attended the Connect Conference in Las Vegas, where I stayed at both Vdara and Wynn. I also visited The Aloft Henderson, a property that unfortunately did not live up to expectations, which I’ll share more about in an upcoming recap.
From there, I traveled to Colorado Springs for Destination West and stayed at Polaris Hotel, a new property that’s been open for less than six months. I had productive meetings with West Coast-based suppliers and reconnected with industry partners I’ve worked with before.
Earlier in the month, I was in Miami for the Dominican Republic Trade Show, which was a great introduction to new properties and excursions ideal for group travel. I also visited Fort Lauderdale, staying at the Sheraton Suites Cypress Creek. I enjoyed using the Brightline train between Miami and Fort Lauderdale—it's efficient, clean, and a great, affordable option to travel within South Florida.
I’d love to highlight more destinations! Reach out if you represent a destination or property I should write about!
Where I’ll Be Next
As an independent event planner for corporations, associations, and small businesses, I regularly attend conferences and industry events to connect with destination suppliers and discover new venues for upcoming programs. I’m often surprised about the amazing properties that I never would have known about had I not learned about them in person!
Site selection and venue sourcing are service offerings that I provide. If you are interested in a location or venue for an upcoming event, book a venue sourcing consultation with me.
If you are a supplier attending an upcoming event or would like me to highlight your property on my blog, please reach out via email. I’m also available for FAM trips and destination previews to highlight on my blog.
📣 June is already full of exciting opportunities! Here’s what’s coming up:
Puerto Rico – Attending Incentive Live hosted by Northstar Meetings
Salt Lake City – Fam trip with site visits
Chicago – Connecting with IPW attendees + scouting venues
